Hudson Community Fire Protection District’s Chief Dan Hite presented 3 awards to members of the Hudson Fire Department, Friday, December 11th for their outstanding performance during 2009.
The first award was presented to Firefighter Bobby Dicken. Bobby joined the department in December 2008 as a photographer. Bobby responded to calls just like everyone else and took photographs to document department training and emergency response. A couple months later Bobby asked to become a Firefighter and is currently participating in the Firefighter II training program. In October, Bobby enrolled in an EMT-B class and he is scheduled to graduate in January 2010. In addition, Bobby also is an advisor for the Fire Service Explorer Program, administers the department website and webhosting for HFD. This year’s “Firefighter of the Year” award is presented to Bobby.
The second award was presented to Captain Von Saufley. Von was appointed to position of the department’s training officer this year. . Von is responsible for scheduling training exercises once a month for department members and insuring compliance with state and federal training requirements. He started the Fire Service Exploring program for teens interested in the fire service and serves as the director of the program. Von was this year’s “Officer of the Year”.
The third award was presented to Captain Shane Hill. During 2009, Shane was promoted from Lieutenant to Captain. Shane has assumed duties and responsibilities this year in the Emergency Medical Service (EMS) field of Hudson Fire Department, managing the scheduling to insure staffing 24-7 of Emergency Medical Staff for the ambulance. Shane also works part-time as an EMT and is willing to step in and work when needed to insure our 24/7 availability of EMT’s. Shane was presented with the “EMT of the Year”.
