Hudson Fire was called for mutual-aid in Kappa late Tuesday night. A two story home caught fire after a tree was stuck by lighting and disrupted a power line leading to the home during a thunderstorm around 11:30pm. El Paso responded to the scene first and requested backup from Hudson, Lexington, and Gridley.

KAPPA -- A lightning strike may be responsible for a fire that caused substantial damage to a two-story home in Kappa late Tuesday, authorities said.
The fire at 407 Hibbs St. was reported around 11:30 p.m. Lightning apparently struck a tree adjacent to the home near some power lines, and a fire broke out in the kitchen, fire officials said.
No injuries were reported. A man who rents the home was sleeping upstairs when the lightning struck, officials said. He came downstairs and saw the fire near the stove in the kitchen.
The kitchen, a staircase and the floor of the room above the kitchen sustained the heaviest damage, but the home did not appear to be a total loss, fire officials said.
Responding to the scene were El Paso, Hudson, Lexington and Gridley fire departments, El Paso Emergency Services and Disaster Agency, and Woodford County sheriff’s police.
