HUDSON -- The body pulled Tuesday morning from a car in Evergreen Lake was a 61-year-old man from Macon County who had been reported missing nearly three weeks ago.

McLean County Coroner Beth C. Kimmerling said the car was discovered about 100 feet from the west boat launch at Comlara Park, rural Hudson.

The coroner was called to the scene about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday after the man’s body was discovered in the backseat of the submerged 2008 Ford Focus.

After the vehicle and the man were removed from about 12 feet of water, the man was pronounced dead at 11:39 a.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday morning. There are no signs of trauma to the body, Kimmerling said.

The sheriff’s department, the coroner’s office and the Illinois State Police continue to investigate the death.

Although the identity of the victim hasn’t been released, the death is “completely unrelated” to the case of the missing Connolly boys from LeRoy, said McLean County Sheriff's Lt. Jeff Elston.
